Who Won Room’s 2015 CNF Contest?

The CNF Writing Contest Winners for 2015 are…

Congratulations to the winners of Room’s 2015 Creative Non-Fiction Contest.

Before we get to the winners, we want to let you know that our annual Poetry and Fiction Writing Contest is now open!

And now, here are the CNF winners for 2015:

  • 1st Place ($500 + publication in Room)
“Fishing” by Serena Shipp, Vancouver, B.C.

  • 2nd Place ($250 + publication in Room)
“Lessons in Meditation” by Melissa Sawatsky, Smithers, B.C.

  • Honourable Mention ($50 + publication on Room‘s website)
“Soft in the Middle” by Elizabeth Withey, Edmonton, A.B.

The selected essays by the first and second place winners will appear later this year in Room (38.4, coming to newsstands in December), but you can read this year’s honourable mention right now.

Once again, thanks to more than 150 writers who shared their work, and to our esteemed judge, Ayelet Tsabari, for her involvement with the contest.
