Room is thrilled to announce the forthcoming publication of our fortieth anniversary anthology, Making Room: Forty Years of Room Magazine. This 416-page book will explore the evolution of Canadian literature over the past forty years, its intersection with the various and ever-changing definitions of feminism within Canada, and the political movements driven by these definitions.

The anthology will be a unique publication in Canada’s literary landscape: a political statement, a historical document, a story created by over seventy diverse voices—including some of Canada’s best writers—over a forty year history.

Room‘s anthology is published with the support of Canadian Heritage through the Canada Periodical Fund, however, we’re still approximately $15,000 short of our budget, and we need your support to fully realize this project. Please check out our IndieGoGo Campaign for the opportunity to pre-purchase the Anthology (at a slight discount) and get awesome perks—such as rare back issues, tickets to the Vancouver Writers Festival, rare signed copies of books by Making Room contributors, manuscript consultations, book bundles, and Virginia Woolf tote bags, travel mugs, and notebooks (art by Jeannie Kamins). You can also purchase the Anthology with a one-year subscription for only $45 (savings of more than $10). Free shipping within Canada.

ROOM 49.1 No Future for Who?

In Room Magazine 49.1 No Future for Who?, we are really asking. We are coming in hot. We are causing a scene. We are being unreasonable. We are not fucking around. We are not taking “no” for an answer. “No” is the only word we still know. For who? For who? No.
