Room Magazine continues to stand against the occupation of Palestine and stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people in their long struggle for liberation and self-determination amidst the ongoing apartheid and genocide perpetuated by Israel.
At the Board of Directors meeting on March 24, 2024, Room Magazine decided to join a growing number of academic, artistic, and cultural institutions in committing to the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), which “advocates for a boycott of Israeli academic and cultural institutions for their deep and persistent complicity in Israel’s denial of Palestinian rights that are stipulated in international law.” PACBI is part of the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. PACBI focuses on institutions rather than targeting individuals directly.
Room Magazine commits to not working or partnering with academic, artistic, and cultural organizations and institutions that are complicit in the ongoing genocide and apartheid in Palestine. Room Magazine has requested that our distributor, Magazines Canada, remove our magazines from Chapters/Indigo, which funds the HESEG Foundation’s recruitment of soldiers for the IOF. We will update this statement when that is complete.
