Artist Feature: Adrienne Larocque from Kihew and Rose

Kihew and Rose is created and owned by Adrienne Larocque, a Nehiyaw Iskwew (Plains Cree Woman) from Maskwacis, AB in Treaty 6. She lives and creates with gratitude on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples. Kihew and Rose features contemporary Indigenous beadwork using traditional techniques in a modern aesthetic. Kihew and Rose were intended to appear at the 2020 Growing Room Literary and Arts Festival as a part of our first ever festival marketplace. Instead, we’re happy to celebrate and platform Adrienne’s storytelling through beadwork here. Order your own jewellery set on the Kihew and Rose website and follow them on Instagram @kihewandrose.

ROOM 49.1 No Future for Who?

In Room Magazine 49.1 No Future for Who?, we are really asking. We are coming in hot. We are causing a scene. We are being unreasonable. We are not fucking around. We are not taking “no” for an answer. “No” is the only word we still know. For who? For who? No.
