Congratulations to the winners of our 2017 Cover Art Contest!

We are thrilled to announce the winners of our 2017 Cover Art Contest, as selected by our esteemed judge Judge Zainub Verjee, the Executive Director of the Ontario Association of Arts Galleries in Toronto. Please join us in congratulating the artists! Shortlisted pieces can be found HERE.

First place: “You Go First” by Michelle Purchase, Kitchener, Ontario

Michelle Purchase lives in Kitchener, Ontario and is a printmaker, landscape architect, teacher, botany geek, and mother. However, she dreams of living in a treehouse spending her days drawing, swimming, and listening to indie music.

Second place: “Contemplations” by Victoria Prevot, Burnaby, British Columbia

Victoria Prevot was born and raised in Vancouver. She enjoys working in digital film and, more recently, photograms. She can often be found working in a darkroom on the weekends these days. Victoria loves learning, music, and her two amazing teenagers.

Honourable mention: “Uncovered,” “Veiled,” “Warped” by June Barrage, Mississauga, Ontario

June Barrage (b.1995) is from Beirut, Lebanon. While pursuing her BFA at Queen’s University, her work has revolved around visual manifestations of the practice of veiling and societal restrictions on women in the Islamic diaspora. She questions what is it to be a Muslim in this modern day and age.
