This year we’ll be hosting our magazine table where we’ll have the current 37:3 Geek Girls issue and our fabulous back issues. At 12:20 p.m. poets from 37:2 and 37:3 will read their work at our Room reading, and at 4:15 p.m. Roomie Carrie Schmidt will be participating on a lit magazine panel. Hope to see you there!

Formerly called Word on the Street, WORD is an opportunity for readers, writers, and general bibliophiles alike to learn more about the magazines, books, and authors that make up Vancouver’s eclectic writing and publishing culture.

About the readers:
Lucas Crawford is a rural NS-raised poet and performer who teaches Gender Studies at SFU. You can find his poetry in Room, Rattle, PRISM, The Antigonish Review, Other Voices, The Nashwaak Review, Rampike, Lost In Thought, and Chelsea Stations’ New Gay Poetry. His scholarly book, Transgender Architectonics, is forthcoming with Ashgate.
Ruth Daniell is a writer, artist, and performer originally from Prince George, BC. She now lives in Vancouver, where she teaches speech arts and writing at the Bolton Academy of Spoken Arts and runs Swoon, a literary reading series on love and desire. She holds a BA (Honours) from the University of Victoria and her MFA from the University of British Columbia. Her writing appears in literary journals across Canada and has been twice longlisted for the CBC Canada Poetry Prize. Recently, she has been honoured in Contemporary Verse 2 as a runner-up for the 2013 Young Buck Poetry Prize and on CBC as the winner of the Shakespeare Selfie Challenge for her dramatic monologue, “Ophelia, Attending a Garden on the Ground Floor of a Vancouver Apartment Building.”
