Call for Submissions: ROOM 48.3 Rest/Unrest

Pause. Breathe. Reflect. Resist. Then submit to Room 48.3:

In Rest/Unrest, we’ll unravel the forces and structures denying us rest and celebrate the act of reclaiming it. Send us your stories, poems, and hybrid pieces on moments of pause, sacred naps, and rebelling against our hyper-productive world. Editors Rachel Thompson, Holly Lam, Hamdah Shabbir, and Katie Stobbart welcome writing on burnout, rest as resistance, hibernation, fallow periods, reclaiming time, and your unique interpretations of rest/unrest. Submit your best work in any genre that lies down within literary tradition and rises against it.

Underrepresented writers—including but not exclusive to women (cis and trans), trans men, Two-Spirit and non-binary writers who are Black, Indigenous, people of colour, queer, and/or disabled—are particularly encouraged to submit.

Before submitting, please read our About section to see if your work fits within Room’s mandate, then refer to the Submission Guidelines on how to format your work. We are an international feminist magazine, and encourage writing and art submitted from all over the world.

This issue has a rolling submissions period. Submissions will close once our submission limit is reached, and will not open again until our next issue.

ROOM 49.1 No Future for Who?

In Room Magazine 49.1 No Future for Who?, we are really asking. We are coming in hot. We are causing a scene. We are being unreasonable. We are not fucking around. We are not taking “no” for an answer. “No” is the only word we still know. For who? For who? No.
