If I become a RoomMate, what does my membership donation go toward?
As a supporting member of Room magazine, 100% of your monthly contributions will go towards paying, uplifting, and supporting emerging artists. We will use Patreon funds to cover our print and online contributor payments and reader performance fees, and to ensure the continuation of our special projects, such as the Indigenous Brilliance Podcast and Reading Series, youth outreach initiatives, workshops, and collaborations.
Why is this revenue important to you as a non-profit organization/small literary magazine?
As a non-profit organization, all the revenues we make go right back into our mission, which allows us to continue printing our magazine, increase the amount we pay contributors both in print and online, and start new projects that excite us and bolster our community.
What if I can’t afford to be a monthly donor? Can I still access Room programming?
The short answer is YES. At Room, we’re dedicated to financial accessibility of all our programming (submissions, contests, sample issues, events, workshops, web content, etc). If anything we offer proves to be a financial barrier for you, all you need to do is contact a staff member and we will do our best to accommodate.
What are the membership options?
With six membership tiers ranging from $5–$100, there’s something for every potential RoomMate. The basic “Light Reading” tier ($5/month) will get you a continuous subscription to Room, access to the members-only content feed, early bird access to event tickets, and recognition in our print issue and on our website. The “Hey Good Bookin'” tier ($100/month) includes a mix of rad merchandise, a gift subscription for a friend, and awesome perks from our partners at Massy Books and Breathing Space Creative Literary Studios. What if I already have a subscription to Room?
No worries! Email circulation@roommagazine.com to redirect the rest of your paid subscription to a friend. Otherwise, your current subscription will simply be updated to remain active as long as you choose to be a member.
