Announcing Room’s New Marketing and Contest Coordinator: Ruchika Gothoskar

We’re so thrilled to announce Room‘s new marketing and contest coordinator, Ruchika Gothoskar!

Ruchika is an editor, writer, reader, and settler, currently living on the territory of the Anishinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples, in Ontario. She is finishing up her degree in English and Cultural Studies, and Women’s Studies at McMaster University, and pursuing a certificate in Restorative Justice at Simon Fraser Universiy. When she’s not reading for school, she’s reading for fun, and you can either find her in the non-fiction section of the library, or endlessly scrolling through Tik Tok, desperately trying to understand Gen-Z. Ruchika is passionate about transformative justice, community care, reading more stories by writers of colour, and Mexican chocolate ice cream. Find her at @rgothoskar on Instagram, and Twitter (and Tik Tok, if you’re into that).

Ruchika says “I’m so thrilled to be here – especially as a long time reader, first time caller. It is so important to me that the places I choose to be part of align with my personal values and morals, and Room‘s mandate is one that does just that. Room‘s mission is one that is so close to my heart as a queer woman of colour, and I’m feeling lucky as ever to be given this opportunity.

The publishing world is one that is still very homogenous in its make up, and I can’t begin to express how much I appreciate Jessica, Molly, and Kayi for taking a chance on my capabilities and honouring the complexities and capabilities that diverse peoples bring to the table. I am sure that I’m going to learn so much from Room’s  hugely talented staff, and Collective members over the coming weeks and into the future. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be here, and how excited I am to work with this wonderful team to imagine and create new, complex futures where there is room for us all.”

Ruchika, welcome to the Room team – we’re so glad you’re here.
