Kihew and Rose is created and owned by Adrienne Larocque, a Nehiyaw Iskwew (Plains Cree Woman) from Maskwacis, AB in Treaty 6. She lives and creates with gratitude on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples. Kihew and Rose features contemporary Indigenous beadwork using traditional techniques in a modern aesthetic. Kihew and Rose were intended to appear at the 2020 Growing Room Literary and Arts Festival as a part of our first ever festival marketplace. Instead, we’re happy to celebrate and platform Adrienne’s storytelling through beadwork here. Order your own jewellery set on the Kihew and Rose website and follow them on Instagram @kihewandrose.
You can continue to support and celebrate the rest of our Growing Room artists by ordering issue 44.1 Growing Room online, and watch this space as we share more content from contributors to the Growing Room 44.1 issue all throughout the month of March.
