Job Posting: Seeking a Graphic Animator!

Room Magazine and the Indigenous Brilliance Collective are looking for a skilled graphic animator to create one animated background / motion graphic loop for the Indigenous Brilliance Podcast. This animation will be created in response to various short audio clip highlights from the first season of the Indigenous Brilliance Podcast.

The time commitment for this position is estimated to be around 25-30 hours of work, between mid-February and mid-March 2022. The selected candidate will work in collaboration with Room team member Karmella during a 1-2 hour concept building session via Zoom, where they will establish a general design and direction for the animation graphic based on the audio clip highlights and desires from the Indigenous Brilliance collective.

The audio clips are broad in theme, so we are very open to responding to the animator’s creative direction; we are open to any animation style (stop motion, 2D, 3D animation, video/photo editing, motion collage etc), and are open to working with new artists/students.

Priority will be given to Black, Indigenous, and POC animators, as well as those who intersect BIPOC, women, 2spirit, trans, queer, and disabled identities.

If you would like to apply for this contract position, please submit your resume, a sample of your animation, your bio, and links to your social media and website (if applicable) to karmella@roommagazine.com by end of day February 4th 2022.

If you have any questions, please reach out to karmella@roommagazine.com for support. Feel free to share this posting with others in the field. We look forward to receiving your applications!
