Image descriptions keep our digital edition accessible for those who use screen readers. The following guidelines should help you write an image description for your work. Please keep the description concise, to approximately 100 words.

Some of these links contain contradictory advice, as there is no one standardized method to write an image description. Keep in mind that the most important aspect of an image description is that it should perform the same function as the image. Use your best judgment and reach out to our editors if you need help.

Cover Artist's Statement, up to 100 words (*for Cover Artist only)

Your permission for us to publish the work on our website, where it may be displayed in colour. (Web images will be small, screen resolution files.)

Your permission for us to publish the work in a digital version of the magazine, where it may be displayed in colour.

Your payment for publication includes:

• an honorarium, in Canadian dollars, of $250 for cover art

• an honorarium, in Canadian dollars, of $50 for each internal art page, up to a maximum of $200)

• two copies of the issue in which your work appears

• a one-year subscription to Room

Additional copies of your issue can be purchased at 40% off the cover price.
