The results of our Poetry and Fiction Contest 2016 are finally out! Congratulations to the following authors who shared their work with us and our judges. We are always thankful for the willingness of writers to share their work with us, and the generosity of our esteemed judges―Doretta Lau for fiction and Marilyn Dumont for poetry―with their time and judgement.

The results of our Poetry and Fiction Contest 2016 are finally out! Congratulations to the following authors who shared their work with us and our judges. Top two winners of each category will be published in the upcoming issue of Room, 40.2. We are always thankful for the willingness of writers to share their work with us, and the generosity of our esteemed judges―Doretta Lau for fiction and Marilyn Dumont for poetry―with their time and judgement. Fiction:

First place: “Genus and Species” by Leslie Beckmann, North Vancouver,  B.C.
Second place: “SIN” by Leanne Dunic, Vancouver, B.C.
Honourable mention: “Garbage Girl” by Tanya Bellehumeur-Allatt, Canton de Hatley, Quebec

Poetry:

First place: “forgetting urdu” by Zehra Naqvi, New Westminster,  British Columbia
Second place: “Lilith” by Irene Wilder, Guelph, Ontario
Honourable mention: “Boreal Selkie” by brit griffin, Cobalt, Ontario

Our first ever Short Forms Contest has also officially opened. Consider submitting any flash prose or prose poems to us before January 15, 2017. The top two entries will be awarded $500, and published in issue 40.4.
