Kyla Jamieson

I’ve heard
we only remember
the bad things
that happen to us
but I don’t
want to forget
my silences
times my reality
& experience
were overruled
such forgetting
would be one
more form
of erasure
I am beginning
to think of myself
as a historian
of my own
silence
I am trying
not to repeat it

Kyla Jamieson lives and relies on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. Some of her writing is accessible here.
