Our summer issue has been printed and will be arriving on newsstands and in mailboxes very soon! Go behind the scenes with artist Rachael Ashe, whose altered books grace some of the issue's interior pages.
Room 35.2: Shaping the Spark explores the wondrous complexities of the creative process. It features the winners of our 2011 writing contest, an interview with novelist Madeleine Thien, and new fiction by Genni Gunn. Wrapped in a beautiful cover by Amy Alice Thompson, you'll find an inspiring collection of poems, stories, and artwork about what it means to transform the spark of creativity into a work of art.
One of our contributing artists for the issue is Rachael Ashe, a Vancouver artist who loves to create sculptural artwork out of old books and found objects. In the middle of 35.2 you'll find photographs of two of her altered books. Hear what Rachael has to say about her influences and creative process, and see some of her magnificent work in this short video by Opus Art Supplies.
We hope to see you at our issue launch event on Tuesday night!
